"I am enjoying every aspect of the role but what I really love is that I am actually making a difference with the role that I do."

Bianca Moffatt

Procurement Assistant

I joined RM in June as an apprentice within the procurement team. A key part of my role is building relationships with our suppliers including smaller SMEs and larger suppliers such as Dell and HP. I am responsible for providing them with the reports they need and looking at the orders we are placing. I have to review the prices we are getting and benchmark them to ensure that RM are always getting the best possible deal.

I am enjoying every aspect of the role but what I really love is that I am actually making a difference with the role that I do. I enjoy meeting with suppliers and building relationships. Since doing this role, I have really grown in confidence and learnt a lot. I now confidently work with our suppliers to make sure we are getting the service we need.

I recently got to go and visit a supplier and their distributor office where I got to do training of their products. I am also due to go the HP Experience Centre.

Alongside working within the procurement team, I am also completing a Level 3 Business Administration apprenticeship. For this, I meet regularly with my tutor from QA and attend training at their local training centre. I used to worry about what I would do with my career but now I feel confident about my future as this apprenticeship is giving me a good grounding with so many options for the future.

I have also been invited to participate in the graduate project which forms part of the graduate scheme. For this, I am working with the connectivity team on a project looking at improving communication and customer retention.

Since I joined RM, the support from everyone has been fantastic. My line manager has been very supportive and the gives me tasks that really benefit me and the work I need for my apprenticeship. My advice to anyone considering an apprenticeship would be go for it. I am learning so much that I don’t think I would ever learn at University.
