"When I came for the interview, I felt that you wouldn’t get lost in the company and I wanted to work somewhere that would give me a proper role as a Graduate."

Graduate Key Account Manager

I joined RM as a Graduate to work as a Key Account Manager in a team that looks after our top 1000 customers. It’s been a great role to start in as I get to work across many other divisions within RM. The Key Account Management team are very much at the forefront of the business.

I work in partnership with a Field Manager, Claire, looking after RM Accounts in the North West. We are the customer’s first touch point for all their queries. The role involves both sales and customer relationship management. I speak to our Customers regularly to ensure that everything is running smoothly and deal with any queries.

Claire and I have to work closely together to always know what is happening with our accounts. How well we work together enables us to provide our Clients with a great service. The things I love about my role are the exposure to the rest of the company, the customers and how fast paced it is.

Since joining RM nine months ago, I have built great relationships with people internally and my Manager Jake has been very supportive. I have also had a mentor in my team who has been with the company for a few years which has really helped me.

I joined RM because I liked the fact that it was a smaller company. When I came for the interview, I felt that you wouldn’t get lost in the company and I wanted to work somewhere that would give me a proper role as a Graduate. I also liked the fact that the CEO had come through the Graduate Scheme.

As a part of the graduate scheme, we take part in a Graduate project. This involved three teams competing against each other and at the end of the project, we had to present to the senior leadership team. We were given a brief to investigate how the Millennial Generation will impact RM. We had support in the project with a mentor who was a previous graduate and two sponsors from the Senior Management team. We met regularly to work on the project and it worked well completing it around our other responsibilities. My team were the winning team and it’s great to see our recommendations now being used in different parts of the business.

For me the Graduate Scheme has been fantastic. The benefits you get from a small company are very good and the salary is competitive. You get enough from the graduate programme to help you develop but at the same time you have real responsibility and accountability from the start.
