IT Support Engineer
I have been at RM for about nine months and it is my first job since leaving University. I applied to RM as they seemed very fast paced and forward thinking. A lot of things are changing in education and making technology work for education is becoming more and more significant. I like the real focus on the customers and making sure that everyone is happy. Technology is constantly innovating and making sure that technology is efficient for everyone is an important part of the role.
I enjoy the role because it is very hands on, practical and there is a lot to get involved in. I have been able to engage and aide schools with the latest technology solutions which is captivating. Moreover, I have learnt a lot and have seen how much my self-confidence and soft skills has enhanced since I joined. I am currently based on two school sites and I love that I really feel that I am contributing to what those schools achieve. This role is vital for making sure teaching is made easier and fun which is one of the key thing I enjoy going all-out for.
Covid has presented its own challenges and new projects such as setting up Chromebooks and deploying virtual learning platforms to enable home schooling. There was a lot to do and I really have to learn a lot but it was a great sense of achievement. It’s great to now see them being used and the difference it makes to learning. It was great to see how quickly we could adapt and make home schooling work for the students.
Working for RM you get so much support. If you are ever struggling with anything there is always someone to help. It’s very organised and together we achieve a lot.
