I joined the RM India office back in 2019 in initially within the Dispute Resolution Team. I worked on customer queries working both with customers and internal teams. My role required me to resolve customer queries so that they were able to pay their invoices on time. The role was challenging, and we had a target to work towards. It was great learning as every day is a new scenario. I was also able to pass on my learning to the rest of the team. During that time, I also got to be involved in the pilot test run for Evolution
I worked with that team until the end of last year when my wife got an opportunity in the UK. It was a big decision to move to the UK and I expected to have to leave RM. However, I was really fortunate that the management team within the contact centre in the UK were able to offer me a role there. I joined the UK team in January 2022. The new role was great as I could relate what I was doing in India to what I was doing here but also learn new tasks.
After a few months, as I had always been interested in finance, I asked my supervisors if they had something similar. They created a new role for me in key accounts in finance. This was great recognition for me as it matches my skillset and allows me to contribute even more. I am able to do a role that I am very passionate about.
My new role is part of Key Accounts team. We work on customer queries (projects), debt collections, unallocated cash enquires & some of the other banking related tasks which is new for me as I didn’t do this in ESI.
Since joining RM I have realised that if you are passionate about something you shouldn’t let it go. People will realise you are and help. You need to have open conversations with managers, I wouldn’t have been able to make the moves I have without this. I didn’t do anything extraordinary. My managers have been interested to know what my career plans are, and they have helped. If you need your skillset upgrading to do role, the support is there to help you.
