I joined RM in February 2019, I am a prospector within the Services Team working with the Multi Academy Trusts, which involves lead generation for the Business Development Team, identifying new business and opportunities for schools and trusts with RM. I have developed my role by taking a more consultative approach, talking to trusts about support services, connectivity and cloud based products. It is really important to understand each trust’s individual challenges, to be able to work with them it’s very satisfying knowing that it will have a positive impact on teaching and learning.
My typical day involves consulting with senior leaders from the trust, to identify ways in which we can help them achieve their strategy and plans for delivery of ICT across their schools, Providing a bespoke service to fit in it with their Ethos and goals, to help them improve collaboration and enhance educational delivery.
I really enjoy engaging with the senior leaders within the trusts, normally I will be the initial contact from RM and to start to build a relationship with them is rewarding. It’s really important to deliver excellent customer service and to be able to understand what challenges they face, then advise them about the products and services that RM can provide.
What made me join RM was they provide a great work/life balance and being able to work part time to fit around family life, but at the same time being given the opportunity to develop my career within the company is the perfect combination.
Since joining RM, I have worked on two marketing campaigns, one of which is helping Trusts identify ways in which they can make cost savings, from their Management Information Systems (MIS), their Broadband connectivity and support services. I have talked to trusts of all shapes and sizes, from all primary to a combination of primary and secondary. I also have the opportunity to influence future Marketing Campaigns, by giving positive feedback from conversations that I have had with the senior leaders from the trusts.
My personal challenge has been to learn about all the different products and services that RM provide. I have not previously come from a technological background, but the support that I have been given from more experienced colleagues has been invaluable. Everyone in the company is always happy to help and assist you in any way they can, and this has really given me confidence when speaking to the schools.
Since joining the company, I have attended different training sessions. RM Education Prospector Academy is a new initiative to help better train and improve our sales prospecting teams. I have been a key advocate and influencer through this process, improving and helping develop best practice within the team. RM do invest a lot of time in helping and supporting their staff.
I am proud to work for RM Education, I believe that “Today’s children are tomorrow’s future” and to work for a company who are at the forefront of technology within education that are passionate about making a real difference to young people’s lives.
