IT Support Engineer
I have been at RM for two years. Before joining, I was working for as internal IT support for a company in London. I oversaw the application and technical support.
I joined RM because I wanted a job that was local to where I live. I used to commute into central London and wanted something more local. I moved from Japan to the UK 11 years ago and this move allowed me to work in a local UK business and I liked idea of a school. It was a new challenge. It is good experience to work in a school and support teachers and students.
Originally, I didn’t think I wanted to work in IT but since I started working I have always worked with computers. When I was younger did admin work and worked as a sales assistant. What I like and enjoy is supporting people and the variety that IT support gives me, I like being able to be a generalist.
Since being at RM I have really enjoyed working in the school, the teachers are really nice and they have been very welcoming. I enjoy the school environment. I work with another engineer on site. We work in partnership with the school on the day-to-day work but also the project work.
Since I joined there have been a lot of changes. We have been helping the school to make the most of the technology they have and making it work for them. As well as working with what they have, this Easter we were finally able to upgrade the network switches and refresh the infrastructure. The school is now in a good position with it’s technology and it’s because of what we achieved after a couple of years of working with them. The school trust us and it’s a real partnership. I have been happy to be the RM representative in that project. As a result of how closely we have worked with the school and what we have achieved together, the school and my Manager recently nominated me for a Customer Service Award which I went on to win.
The strength of RM is the support across all teams in UK and India. Everyone across 1st and 2nd line works closely together and that’s why we can keep the customer happy.
