I joined RM Results initially as a temp and after a year, became a permanent employee working as a Service Consultant on the Exam Lifecycle Support desk. I made the decision to become a permanent employee as working at RM is more than just a job.
Our role is to support Examining Bodies who are clients of RM Results. My day to day responsibilities involve looking after two key clients, the Caribbean Examinations Council and Cambridge English. The role is very seasonal in line with the exam periods and this makes it very varied. I liaise between the clients, suppliers and internal customers to ensure that deadlines are met and we achieve what we need to achieve.
I work very closely with my clients and RM have twice sent me to work alongside international clients to provide them with the support they needed in the lead up to exam periods and Results Day. I was lucky to be involved in a project working on e-testing and as a part of the implementation process I, along with a technical colleague, went to one of their test centres in Spain to provide them with the support needed onsite. By being onsite we were able to identify a potential issue with compatibility between the system and their computers and could resolve this for them. The opportunity also allowed me to build fantastic working relationships with the Client and to really understand their needs.
On another occasion, I spent two weeks working with the Caribbean Examinations Council based in Barbados in the lead up to Results Day. Being so involved in the process at such a crucial time alongside the Client really brought home how important our work is.
Since becoming a permanent employee I have had to deal with some serious health issues and the support from RM was fantastic. It’s made me appreciate what a great team I work with.
For me the best thing about my role is knowing that everything I do helps a student to get the result they deserve. Not only do the company make you feel valued but you really see the point of everything you do. It’s not just another job.
